What is domain authority?

Domain authority (DA) is an indicator that scores a website's credibility and authority from 0 to 100. While it is not an official Google metric, sites with higher scores tend to rank better in search engines.

The score is determined by several factors. In particular, links (backlinks) from other trustworthy websites have a large impact. When high-quality sites link to you, search engines see your site as more trustworthy and the score improves.

Content quality also matters: helpful content is more likely to be referenced and linked, which improves search engine evaluation. User experience (UX) is another key factor—sites that are easy to use and fast to load tend to be evaluated more highly.

How to increase domain authority

To improve your domain authority, focus on several key points.

1. Create high-quality content

To increase domain authority, provide content that is valuable to users. Search engines evaluate sites that clearly satisfy user intent. Explain specialized knowledge in an easy-to-understand way and share insights that help solve problems—this makes your content more likely to be referenced and linked, improving your evaluation.

2. Earn links from trustworthy sites

Backlinks from reputable websites directly improve domain authority. Links from topically relevant sites are especially effective. For example, contribute articles to other sites and include a link back to yours, or collaborate with trusted sites/people in your industry to increase natural links.

3. Organize internal links

Link pages appropriately within your site to improve usability for visitors and search engines. Well-structured internal links help search engines understand important pages and can improve the site's overall evaluation.

4. Design for mobile

More users browse on smartphones and tablets, so mobile-optimized design is essential. Google tends to prioritize mobile experiences, and sites that are not mobile-friendly may be evaluated lower. Improve responsiveness, speed, and usability.

5. Improve page speed

Page speed strongly affects user experience. Slow pages increase bounce rates and can hurt evaluation. Optimize image sizes, remove unnecessary scripts, and improve performance to satisfy both users and search engines.
